Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has backed Michael  sboasia Carrick to become his future assistant manager, once the midfielder has received the relevant badges.
Carrick played his final game for the club on Sunday, having previously announced his retirement at the end of the season.
The club recently announced current assistant manager Rui Faria would be ending a 17-year partnership with Mourinho, leaving the club when the campaign is over, amid links to the Arsenal job.
And Mourinho believes Carrick could be the one to replace him once he gets his coaching badges.
“I think it will be Michael Carrick,” Mourinho told reporters when asked about a new assistant manager.
“In the future, when he has his badges, when he has his pro license.”
Carrick started in the 1-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford on Sunday, captaining the Red Devils who had already confirmed second in the Premier League.
